We are so happy to welcoming Mercedes for her first teaching in Cologne! 

Mercedes left her hometown of Buenos Aires at a young age to pursue a ballet career. After graduating from The Royal Ballet School in London, she pirouetted to Amsterdam to join Het Nationale Ballet. A decade of high discipline in pointe shoes was followed by a decade on her feet managing some of Amsterdam’s most demanding restaurants and clubs. Amidst this crazy lifestyle, she was lucky to discover yoga at her local gym, and ever since then her relationship to yoga has been evolving.

She likes to think of practice as a container for self exploration – each breath, each pose is an opportunity to observe herself, to recognize the patterns that keep showing up while opening up to new possibilities. Throughout the years she’s been inspired by different teachers, especially Nancy Gilgoff, Dena Kingsberg, and Andrea Lutz who she is still learning from today.

Mercedes is fascinated by the internal workings of the practice – that which we cannot see. Her classes are, therefore, very much focused around the breath and quality of attention. Sometimes she likes to explain in detail and sometimes she prefers the silence allowing hands-on assists to do the talking. But, in each class, always tuning into the energy of the room and the individual’s needs, all while keeping a healthy sense of humor!

"Ashtanga Yoga, cultivating a joyful and long-lasting practice"

Ashtanga yoga can often have a reputation of being too strict, too dogmatic, and simply too hard. But does it have to be? The way we approach practice (and life!) and what we choose to focus on is often what makes the difference. How can we use the Ashtanga framework, its avenues and tools to explore our (inner) selves? During tour time together we will explore and share:

  • The fundamentals of alignment.
  • Discover more efficient ways to move through fundamental poses such as Down/Up dog, uttanasana, chaturanga, jumping back/forward.
  • Introduction to the energy body
  • Energetic vs physical alignment
  • The energetic dynamics of the different series
  • Navigating the high & lows - when and how to modify your practice, when and how to take it up a level

  - flat complete 3 weeks  250 €

  - 10-day pass  150 €
  - 3-day pass  60 €
  - Drop in  25 €
(no extra costs for SantoshaYoga students)

  - Workshop Saturday 15.02. | 14.00 - 16.30:  45 €
(20% discount for Santosha Yoga students with 6-/9-/12-month flat)

Cancellation policy

A binding registration takes place on the day of receipt of payment. In case of cancellation by the participant, the following participation fees will be refunded:
- up to 2 weeks before: 80%
- In case of a later cancellation a refund is not possible.

Minimum participants: 5

If the minimum number of participants is not reached, we reserve the right to cancel the workshop.

Stornierungsregelung

Eine verbindliche Anmeldung erfolgt mit dem Tag des Zahlungseingangs. Bei einer Stornierung durch den/die Teilnehmer/in werden folgende Teilnahmegebühren erstattet:
- bis 2 Wochen vorher: 80%
- Bei einer späteren Stornierung ist eine Erstattung nicht möglich.

Mindest Teilnehmeranzahl: 5

Bei Nichterreichen der Mindest-Teilnehmeranzahl behalten wir uns vor, den Workshop abzusagen.
